How cookies are used.
Cookies may be used to keep the site working and understand how visitors use it. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

These keep your cart contents in place as you move between pages and carry your selection through to checkout. Without them the shop cannot function.
Analytics
We may use basic analytics to see which pages and rooms visitors spend time on, so we can improve the site. This is aggregate information, not a profile of you.
Checkout and payments
Checkout is handled by our payment provider, which sets its own cookies to keep the transaction secure.
Controlling cookies
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop the cart and checkout from working properly.
What a cookie actually is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It holds a short piece of information, such as an identifier for your shopping cart, that the site can read back on your next page view. Cookies cannot run programs on your device, read files on your computer, or carry viruses.
Some cookies are set by The Dana itself, and some are set by the services that make the shop work, such as our checkout and payment provider. Cookies set by another domain are called third-party cookies, and they are governed by that company's own privacy policy as well as this one.
How long cookies last
Session cookies exist only while your browser window is open and disappear when you close it. They are what keep your cart intact as you move from a room page to a product page to checkout.
Persistent cookies stay on your device for a set period, usually between a few days and a year, so the site can remember preferences such as whether you have already dismissed a message. You can delete these at any time from your browser settings, and doing so simply returns the site to its default state on your next visit.
What we do not do with cookies
We do not sell cookie data, we do not build advertising profiles about you, and we do not use cookies to collect sensitive personal information such as payment card numbers. Card details are entered directly on the secure checkout, handled by our payment provider, and never stored by The Dana.
Managing cookies in your browser
Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all include a privacy or settings panel where you can view stored cookies, block new ones, allow only first-party cookies, or clear everything for a specific site. Most browsers also offer a private or incognito window that discards cookies automatically when you close it.
If you block all cookies, browsing and reading still work, but the cart will not hold its contents between pages and checkout cannot complete. If shopping stops working after a privacy change, allowing cookies for thedanacollection.com is usually the fix.
Changes to this policy
If the way we use cookies changes, for example if we add a new analytics or delivery service, we will update this page. The practices described here apply to thedanacollection.com and to every room, product, guide and journal page on it.
